It has been quite some time since I last wrote here. A lot has happened since then, and unfortunately, that has led to 2024 being my worst year for reading since 2020, when I finished only 13 books. However, the books I read were very high in quality and kept my media intake balanced throughout the year. With that said, let me share my favorite books I read last year.

World War C: The pandemic truly changed the world and society as we know it. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, my favorite medical author, shares his perspective in this book. Dr. Gupta is the chief medical correspondent for CNN, and he had to communicate medical updates to the public regarding the status of the epidemic and how citizens can stay safe and healthy. The book was a fascinating read, covering many details about the pandemic.
I Am Malala: Malala's story is one of a kind and a breath of fresh air. As a man blessed to have a comfortable job in a well-developed country, it can sometimes be easy to forget my privilege through the whirlwind of a busy and mentally challenging lifestyle. However, reading about the struggles Malala went through in an underdeveloped country and her steadfast stance on the value of education brightened my days as I read through this.
When Breath Becomes Air: This was an extremely melancholy read but a much-needed perspective. As someone who is trying to figure out the level of commitment they want work to play in their life, reading about someone who took their career very seriously to end up developing cancer was blood-curdling. Since I greatly respect those in essential services roles, reading about the dark side that occasionally arises with shouldering so much responsibility is challenging.
